What it’s like to work at Desta: An Interview with the Trainee Coordinator.
One of DESTA's important goals is to always push their employees to be best they can be. We recently sat down with Amarech Ganchu, in charge of the finishing department at DESTA's factory in Butajira.

Amarech started out as a line operator two years ago and has worked her way up to be the trainee coordinator. We believe that Amarech offers some great insight into what it’s like to work at DESTA.

Eyob Bekele, Managing Director and Owner, DESTA PLC.

Desta: First I would like to say thank you for giving this interview!

Amarech: Also I would like to say thank you for calling me to this interview!

Desta: When did you start work for Desta?

Amarech: I am one of the ”first-round-employees” of this organization. Last September it has been 2 years since I am working for Desta.

Desta: How did you hear about Desta?

Amarech: I heard about Desta PLC from a technical and vocational school. The management of the company and the management of the factory came and offered job opportunities for right after graduation. On having received our certificate we were hired.

Desta: What is your position title at Desta and what are your responsibilities?

Amarech: I am the trainee coordinator. My responsibility is to train new recruits and take them to the line as soon as they qualify.

Desta: What are the prospects of promotion in Desta?

Amarech: Growth in Desta comes from hard work. The time management is good.

Desta: Did working for Desta bring any changes in your personal life?

Amarech:  I have changed so much in my life so far. I used to live with my family, but now I can be independent and even help my family – at least a little bit.

Desta: What is Desta’s contribution to the local community?

Amarech: It is creating opportunities for the unemployed, it also creates good opportunities for young ones. Even being a certificate holder, there were few if any opportunities. I contemplated emigration. To continue the education was not an option.

Desta: Do you have any plans for the future?

Amarech: I am working hard and am saving some of my monthly salary; I hope to become a business woman.

Desta: We wish you all the best!

Amarech: Thank you very much!
